HOSPITAL PATIENTS AND THE DATA PROTECTION ACT
Owing to the requirements of the Data Protection Act it is important that Parish priests should, on a regular basis, remind parishioners that if they are admitted to hospital as patients they should make sure that the hospital staff record their religion and note their explicit request that the Chaplaincy Team and Roman Catholic Chaplain be informed. Those responsible for children or for those who are unconscious when admitted to hospital should do likewise.
