Meetings first Friday of each month (except on Bank holidays) normally from 2.30 – 4.00 p.m. Any changes to be announced at previous meeting.
Talks, Quiz afternoon, Music, Lunches – but always time to sit and chat over a cup of tea and a slice of cake – come and make new friends.
It was also considered desirable to use a microphone to address the group as a whole.
There will be a voluntary donation box at the door to allay cost of refreshments, rent etc. - suggested amount £1.00 (£2.00 if you are feeling really generous!)

Over fifty men and women came to enjoy a most stimulating talk by The Director, Anthony Wilkinson of the forthcoming International Wimbledon Music Festival running from 12- 27 November.
Friendship Group Poetry Reading on Friday 9 September was a great success. It really was enjoyed by just under 70 men and women.
This meeting will be a week later than usual on 09 September, from 2.30 to 4pm, so as to accommodate the Merton Festival Celebrating Age for people over fifty. We will host another Poetry Reading. A small group will read a selection of favourite poems.
About fifty women and men came for an illustrated talk by Judith Crocker on “Working with Quakers in the Soviet Union”. Judith had so many slides and so much information to share with us that we had to adjourn for tea and cake. We hope to hear more from Judith in the months ahead.
10 June – about 50 people met for a strawberry tea and chat. Chris Woodward asked for any Parish Memorabilia for the Parish Fun Day on 3 July. We all had a very enjoyable time. Next meeting will be a Beetle drive followed by tea and cake on 01 July
Over 60 people enjoyed a wonderful Lunch to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Everyone was greeted with a glass of bubbly on arrival. The hall never looked more beautiful decked out in red, white and blue. The food was delicious.
The Musical Quiz was very enjoyable on 4 February. About 56 people attended and we had a lot of fun. The new layout of the parish lounge seemed to give us so much more space which enabled everyone to move around and a chance to chat to old friends and to meet new ones.

Our first anniversary celebration lunch surpassed all expectations – it really was a very happy occasion with over sixty guests, including the welcome return of Father Duffy.
HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY to The Friendship Group for people over fifty. This first year has been much more enjoyable than we could ever have expected. It is wonderful to see new friendships developing and everyone having fun at the meetings.
On a pouring wet cold first Friday in October about forty men and women turned up to for the meeting in the parish lounge. They came for a friendly and stimulating afternoon and they were not to be disappointed. Anna Phillips, Trading Standards Officer came and gave us a most interesting talk.
The September meeting united with The Merton Festival Celebrating Over 50s, Poetry Reading was very enjoyable and gave us lots of laughter. We had over 55 men and women to listen to four very accomplished readers.
July 9 Meeting was another outstanding success. Over fifty men and women attended on a beautiful hot afternoon.

A STRAWBERRY TEA,
On Friday 4 June 2010 we had a most enjoyable Ploughman's Lunch. About 60 men and women came and enjoyed home made soup, with bread and cheese/pate and fresh fruit. They also had a glass of wine or a fruit juice included on their entrance fee of £5.00.
