FRIENDSHIP GROUP FOR OLDER PARISHIONERS 2.30 – 4.00 in the Parish Lounge.
At the March meeting, Sr Maureen and Judy gave a very inspiring presentation of the paintings by Rembrandt and Millais. About 50 people attended - men and women Many of those present expressed their appreciation and asked for similar events in future.
At the April meeting, Jane Platt talked about about services offered by Wimbledon Guild and Lynne Bainbridge spoke about the many services offered by Age Concern Merton. One excellent example is The Age Concern Handyman, Andrew, who will do all sorts of odd jobs in the home for £12.50 per hour. There were be lots of handouts to take home, so no worries about remembering what is available.
About 40 people then enjoyed tea and cake while our guests moved from table to table discussing the services available and booking them or finding out how to book them. The beautiful sunshine outside was only matched by the lively cheerful conversation that filled the hall.
Next meeting Friday 7 May at 2.30 Joan Cottle, Official Guide will come to talk about Lambeth Palace
