Some Frequently Asked Questions (and answers!) for this site:

How do I find information about a particular subject or parish organisation?

Have you tried using the search box (top left of the screen)? Also, many of the organisations and activities of the parish are listed under groups and organisations. If all else fails, send us a message.

We have tried to make this site as easy to navigate as possible but this is still work-in-progress. Do let us have your suggestions for improvements.

How do I contact the person responsible for a particular parish organisation or group?

Most of the groups and organisations have contacts listed. In many cases their phone number, email address or a contact form is available. In the absence of anything else you can always contact a particular organisation or group via the Presbytery by sending a message, by email at wimparishatgmail [dot] com, or by phone on 020 8946 0305.

Isn’t it a bad idea to publish people’s private email addresses on a public website like this?

We only publish personal contact details (phone numbers and email addresses) where people have given their specific consent [*] or where they have appeared in the weekly parish newsletter [**]. All email addresses displayed on this site are protected in order to inhibit harvesting by “spambots”. If you are the contact for a parish organisation or group then if you would rather not have any of your details revealed you can have your own personal contact form which will allow other site users to send a message to your email address but without your address being revealed to them (until such time as you might choose to reply).

[*] If your details have been published without your authorisation then please contact us as soon as possible so that we can remove them.

[**] Since the newsletter is updated most weeks, and only the 2 most recent editions are available on this site, personal contact details are typically only available via the newsletter pages for about 2 weeks. The same details may also be present for a time in events listings and news items/announcements on this site, but in order to protect privacy these details are removed after about a month.

Aren’t the personal contact forms vulnerable to abuse by spammers?

The site employs various measures to reduce the risk of spam. If you are aware of any problems, or if you receive spam sent from this site, then please let us know so that we can review the situation and adjust the spam control measures that are in force.

How do I add my comments to a particular page?

Some of the pages on the site allow you to add your own comments. Simply scroll down to the bottom of the page and if there is an option to “Add new comment” then go ahead and do so, and click the “Save” button. Your comment will be immediately visible to other website visitors.

Won’t the site get littered with “spam” comments from ill-meaning visitors?

This site employs some of the best available technology to separate the wheat from the chaff. However if you see any inappropriate comments then please send us a message so that we can deal with the problem.

I can see a login link on the home page - what is this for?

Most visitors to this site never log in (i.e. with a password) and most content is publicly accessible. Certain areas are restricted; for these, and in order to help maintain the site, you need to sign up for an account. Contact us if you are interested, or use the "register" link on the front page (top right) to create an account.

Registered users also have a “personal contact form” through which they can be contacted. This is particularly useful if a registered user is a listed contact for a particular parish organisation since it provides a relatively safe and secure contact mechanism while keeping their email address private. Users can disable their personal contact form if they want but in general for users concerned about their privacy the personal contact form provides the best means of enabling others to contact them.
