new floor poured today - photos

Today they poured the new floor, with a series of trucks bringing the concrete; see here.  A metal pipe was laid into the church, so that the concrete could be pumped into the church; see here.  I took this picture just before the 10 am mass, from the gallery, which is usually out of bounds.  You can see only the front left of the floor had been done at this point.  Some more of the action is seen here, here, here, and here.  Just before 1230 today I peeked in briefly to take some more photos.  You can see here and here how far they had progressed.  Here is a close up of the wet floor.

Photos of the empty organ space!

While is was in the gallery I took two snaps of the organ.  You can see here and here what is left of it.

I do want to thank all those who contributed to the Capital Appeal either through monetary gifts or with your time.  Today is a joyful day because of all the sacrifices this community has made over these past few years.  Know that I am always grateful, but it is even more heightened on a day like today.

Know that now that this floor has been laid, they will this week start working on the side access ducts and sometime next week work on preparing the floor for the heating tubes to be laid on top.  Then another layer of concrete needs to be laid down.  Only then can we start to think about laying down the new oak floor finish.  So there is still a lot to do before we return in mid-October.

See here all the pictures I have posted regarding the restoration

These are the best photos you have of the restoration so far..
