christmas mass and service times 2011

Tuesday 20 December: Reconciliation service at 7.30 pm in the church. This is an opportunity for communal prayer and individual confession.

Friday 23 December: Rehearsal for crib service from 10.30 am till 12 noon for any children aged 4+ who would like to be involved.


Christmas Eve: Saturday 24 December

Confessions: 10.30 am - 3.00 pm
                     4.30 pm - 6.30 pm (no confessions after 6.30 pm)

Children's Christmas eve crib service and opening of the crib: 3.30 pm

There will be a rehearsal on Friday 23rd Dec from 10.30 till 12 noon for any children aged 4+ who would like to be involved. All older children wishing to read please ring Rachel Marshall on [Sorry, number no longer available] by Sunday 18th December. Any offers of help from parents would be gratefully received.

Vigil Mass of Christmas (Sacred Heart School Mass Centre): 5.00 pm

 

Reserved seats at Christmas Eve Masses

The front four rows of seats on the left hand centre aisle (pulpit side) of the church will be reserved for frail and elderly persons until 5 minutes before the carol services begin (6.55 pm for 7.30 pm Mass and 11.25 pm for Midnight Mass). Thereafter they will be available to all.

 

Car parking

Please note that special arrangements will be in place for car parking on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

 

First Mass of Christmas
Carols before Mass: 7.00 pm
Mass: 7.30 pm

Music will be led by the 5.00 pm Music Group

Christmas Mass in the Night
Carols before Mass: 11.30 pm
Midnight Mass: 12.00 midnight

Carols and music as in order of service
The 11.15 Choir will sing at Midnight Mass


The Christmas collection is for the priests of the parish who by custom distribute some of it to charity
 

 


Christmas Day: Sunday 25 December

Masses:
8.00 am
9.00 am
10.00 am (family Mass with music)
11.30 am (Low Latin, with carols)
12.45pm  (with carols)

There will be no Mass at the Sacred Heart School Mass Centre on Christmas Day

Please note that there are no evening Masses on Christmas Day and there will be no confessions

The parish Christmas lunch is at 12.00 noon in the Upper Hall


Feast of St Stephen: Monday 26 December (bank holiday)

Mass at 10.00 a.m. only

No Mass at 8.00 a.m. and no confessions today

After the 10 a.m. Mass there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Benediction at 11.50 a.m.

THE CHURCH WILL CLOSE AT 12.00 NOON

Feast of St John the Evangelist:  Tuesday 27 December (bank holiday)

Mass at 10.00 a.m. only

No Mass at 8.00 a.m. and no confessions today

After the 10 a.m. Mass there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Benediction at 11.50 a.m.

THE CHURCH WILL CLOSE AT 12.00 NOON

If you are asking about the special liturgy of the word for the children then the first date this term is next Sunday 8th Jan at the 9.45 Mass.
