On a pouring wet cold first Friday in October about forty men and women turned up to for the meeting in the parish lounge. They came for a friendly and stimulating afternoon and they were not to be disappointed. Anna Phillips, Trading Standards Officer came and gave us a most interesting talk. She spoke about:
Sales at the door,
Contracts,
Rights regarding exchange of good,
Unwanted and fraudulent telephone calls and much more.
She also brought along some counterfeit goods for us all to have a look at too. Anna was a delight to listen to and very informative and we really enjoyed her talk.

After tea and more cake than we could eat, Fr Ashworth introduced the new Priest to the Parish, Father Francis Rodrigues SJ. Fr Francis originates from Kenya but has been working in Glasgow. He is a very happy, smiling energetic man who told us that he has a lot of experience in counselling and would be happy to see individuals for marriage or general counselling. He listed his interests as tennis and bridge and would be very happy to join in a game at any time. He also plays a guitar and he entertained us to a song from his native Kenya.

Now we look forward to celebrating the first anniversary of this delightful and friendly group. We will have a sit-down “a la Carte" Lunch on Firework Day 05 November at 1 pm in the Parish Lounge.
