Today we pray for all the youth of the parish and the many groups that nurture the human and faith development. The sacramental programs of baptism, communion, and confirmations are very strong in our parish. There are a vast number of volunteers who accompany our young people through all these key stages in their faith life, encouraging them to see the grace of God's love within their families, friends, and the Sacred Heart community. These men and women work conscientiously with the only reward of seeing members of the parish grow to be good Christians. I thank them, for their work.
Our youth ministry team has developed significantly, especially lead by the youth minister, James Potter. The numerous youth groups try to engage them socially and spiritually, as they mature in their faith and social concerns. It can seem to be basic and simple work, but behind it is hours of thought, preparation and engagement of the youth. I cannot thank them enough.
The Sacred Heart parish has been blessed for decades with vibrant uniform groups, from the youngest to the most advanced scouts and guides. For example the 28th Wimbledon Brownies have 16 girls from 7 - 10 years old that meet every Thursday in our Lower Hall. The 19th Wimbledon Scout Group has just over 100 young people and leaders which is based in Raynes Park. Their cub group meets in the Sacred Heart School. The Raynes Park Explorer Scout unit has over 20 members. These are just a mention of the vast numbers that are encouraged to become Christian citizens in our society. This parish is extraordinarily blessed with the uniform groups and we pray in thanksgiving and to encourage their continued success.
So please pray for all these groups and seek the wisdom of the Holt Spirit in forming the next generation who will have such an influence in the 21st Century. Please go here to find the prayer.
