PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The remit of the Parish Pastoral Council is to work co-operatively with the Parish Priest, Parish Team and the parishioners to assist the entire parish community to achieve the mission of the Church in the local community.

The Parish Pastoral Council is accountable to the parish community for its work and will give high priority to ensuring regular, effective and timely communication with the parish. The Council agreed a communications strategy in June 2006; [click here] to view a copy. Unconfirmed minutes of the Council meetings are posted on this website as well as in the Church porch as soon as possible after each meeting. To view copies of minutes [see right].

The detailed guidelines for the working of the PPC are included in the PPC Handbook.

The programme of work of the Council is primarily directed by the Parish Vision and the objectives set out in the Pastoral Plan. The Council is required to review and update the plan from time to time. To view the plan [click here].

The nine lay members of the PPC together act as an advisory body to the Parish Priest. They do this through a process of praying together; discerning needs and priorities; and sharing practical wisdom and experience in order to advise on major decisions which may affect the life and well-being of the parish.

The Council meets once a month apart from August.

The Council arranges a Parish Day once a year which is an opportunity for the wide range of parish organisations to show what they have been doing during the course of the year and for the Council to report on its activities and to listen to the view of parishioners.

Any parishioner can make representations to the Council and should do so by either talking to a member of the Council or by writing to the Secretary, c/o The Presbytery, The Sacred Heart Church, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, SW19 4LU, or E Mail christopherwoodward@blueyonder.co.uk.
