Video tour of the organ showing the restoration work needed

At the recital on Saturday, 18th July, Bob Rathbone showed a video presentation about the organ, the current problems with it, and the work needed to restore it to a condition where it will last for another 100 years. For a fascinating look behind the scenes, click on the videos below.

The Restoration Of The Walker Organ.

My name is Paul Corin ,I live in Cornwall and I interested to know if the restoration of the organ will entail keeping every thing original, including the pneumatic action, my website is www.paulcorinmusic.co.uk  so you can note my interest in organs. I have done a lot of restoration work on Wurlitzer and Compton Theatre Organs, so I am use to releathering all the hundreds of pneumatic motors of the type found in the action of your Walker Organ. Which Organ Builder is going to restore the Walker, I may be able to help,as many firms would like to subcontract this small pneumatic work.

 Kind Regards Paul.

Restoration of the Organ

Dear Paul, Thank you for your comments about the organ, and it is good to know there are the skills needed for this kind of project still out there. We are intending to restore the action entirely to original condition, including releathering where needed; as you say there are hundreds, if not thousands of motors to be done. We are currently awaiting news of a major grant from Heritage Lottery Fund, so I can't say which builder we will have until the contract is signed. Suffice it to say, it is one of the major builders in the country! I will pass on your comments in due course, but please stay in touch with the website for developments. Best wishes, Bob Rathbone (Director of Music)
