Last Saturday over 60 young people of the parish received the sacrament of confirmation at St. George's Cathedral. We filled the cathedral. (It was strange to be in front of a large congregation again, after a few months in the upper hall.) Bishop Paul Hendricks presided over the liturgy. From my standpoint I just had to sit back and enjoy the beautiful ceremony. The Bishop anointed the confirmation candidates, taking 30 minutes to do so. He seemed to enjoy the whole occasion. We are very thankful to the Cathedral allowing this parish ceremony to take place there. I also want to thank Sr. Dorothy and James Potter for facilitating the confirmation program. The couples, who bring the young people into their homes over a series of weeks, are very dedicated. I am very grateful in their work and selfless effort. Our church is not merely what happens within the four walls of the church. It is how we live our lives each and every day. If the church is holy then our homes are also holy. Christ resides there through the sacrament of marriage and in the loving acts within the family. What better way to invite the young people to claim their own gift of the Spirit than seeing that faith within the home.
This is a beautiful piece of writing..
Thank You
