Sacred Heart Church, in Wimbledon, a Roman Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Southwark, and formerly served by the Jesuits of the British Province, welcomes you to our website. As one of the largest parishes in England, we hope this site highlights the dynamic community that has been a place of worship for over a century. At the heart of our parish are the many people of all ages who work, study, pray and share their lives together. We invite and encourage you to explore, discover and visit the Sacred Heart.
To access the presbytery, please continue to use the entrance at the side of the upper hall and youth room. Whilst the scaffolding around part of the building has been removed, the balance of the work on the roof is being completed so please continue to be careful of men working over head when coming to this entrance.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY MINISTRY
Our Children’s Liturgy Ministry need you. Our volunteers are extremely dedicated and committed, covering sessions every 4-5 weeks. We are commended on the quality, creativity and success of our Ministry. If interested, please leave contact details at the Presbytery or email wimparishgmail [dot] com.
The office and reception are now relocated in the presbytery. There is still scaffolding on the building as work on the roof is still ongoing, but will be completed soon. During this time, use the entrance at the side of the upper hall and youth room. Please be careful of men working over head when coming to this entrance. During business hours please always ring the office/reception bell for the staff or the clergy. There will be limited stock of bookshop items available in the new reception; more information on what will be stocked will be in the newsletter next week.
Our new Parish Secretary Thelma Staussi is available from Mon - Fri from 9am - 5pm. Thelma wishes to thank parishioners for their warm welcome!
I would like to thank you for the warm welcome extended to me since I have arrived! The most frequent question I am asked is “What should we call you?” - If I am in your good books you could use ‘Fr John’, if I am not you could say ‘Canon Clark’ and if I’m in between try ‘Canon John’. I promise I will respond to any or all of the above.
