Taking Care of Our Common Home
The Sacred Heart Environment Group is a friendly group of parishioners, of all ages, committed to taking better care of our natural environment.
We organise a programme of events to raise awareness of environmental issues and work together to enable parishioners, as individuals, families and as a whole parish, to live more sustainably.
Recent events include: movies; quiz night; sustainably sourced supper; The Time is Now climate march; nature trails; sowing a wildflower garden; a pet-blessing; children’s craft – prayer cards for the Amazonia synod; a ‘swishing’ evening; and Christmas Jumper swap-shop. We have introduced new recycling bins to all parts of the parish complex and are currently looking at ways to reduce our energy use.
As a parish, we are participating in CAFOD’s LiveSimply scheme – to live simply, live sustainably and live in solidarity with those in poverty.
Lots of our events are family-friendly. And we warmly welcome new members. If you would like to get involved, or receive information about future events, please fill in your details below.
